CHICAGO, Ill., June 28, 2016 -- WILD TRAVELS (http://www.wildtravelstv.com/) returns for a second season on WTTW/Channel 11, Chicago, celebrating the unusual, eccentric and downright quirky people, places and events all across America.
While most travel shows go abroad for their content, WILD TRAVELS finds treasure in the cities, towns and roadsides of the USA; whether it's GATORLAND in Florida, a SNEAKER CONVENTION in Cleveland, a BUG ART collection of portraits made from thousands of insects in Vermont, a LIBRARY STRADDLING THE U.S./CANADIAN BORDER, or the world's only museum dedicated to SMOG in Pennsylvania, WILD TRAVELS tirelessly celebrates the off-kilter subcultures, the obsessive collectors and hobbyists, and the decidedly odd jobbers that make America such a crazy quilt of non-conformity.
WILD TRAVELS employs a distinctive style established by its predecessor, WILD CHICAGO—the popular, critically acclaimed magazine series on WTTW/Channel 11 that featured a roving hand-held camera, fast-paced editing and an inquisitive host having fun with his interviewees. It reunites the team of Executive Producer HARVEY MOSHMAN and Host WILL CLINGER, who together earned 16 Midwest Emmys® and several prestigious national awards for their work on WILD CHICAGO and WILD CHRONICLES. Last year WILD TRAVELS kept the streak going with a Midwest Emmy® for Season One. Former WILD CHICAGO collaborator JOHN DAVIES serves as Executive Consultant.
Each week WILD TRAVELS hopscotches the country, discovering a delightfully bizarre cross-section of the American landscape in every half-hour episode. The series appeals to adventurous travelers who have a desire to get off the beaten path, as well as more sedentary viewers satisfied to gaze at this country's wild side from the comfort of their own couch.
The WILD TRAVELS six-episode second season will premiere on weekends with broadcasts beginning Saturday, July 9th at 4:30pm, followed by Sunday, January 10th at 11pm on WTTW/Channel 11. Additional broadcasts throughout the week will air on 11.2 WTTW Prime. This local roll out precedes the planned national distribution to Public Television stations in 2017.
